"“Finally! After more than four years of intense preparation, France is about to host (...) the greatest global event that a country can organize: the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. The eyes of the world will be on you. I am counting on you—police officers, gendarmes, firefighters, bomb disposal experts, prefectural agents, intelligence services, municipal police officers, and private security agents—to uphold the honor of our country.” With this letter dated July 22, 2024, the Minister of the Interior underscored the scale of the challenge for the 45,000 men and women mobilized to secure the world’s largest sporting gathering.
